Dr Dennis Koh specialises in colorectal surgery, colorectal cancer treatment and minimally invasive surgery for various bowel diseases. His expertise also includes managing perianal conditions, treating pelvic floor and functional bowel disorders and surgical management of inflammatory bowel disorders. Additionally, Dr Koh performs general surgical procedures for gallbladder, hernia, and appendicitis.

In detail, Dr Koh’s colorectal specialisation covers advanced endoscopic techniques and targeted treatments for colorectal cancer, alongside minimally invasive approaches for both benign and malignant bowel diseases. He provides comprehensive care for perianal conditions and has extensive experience in addressing pelvic floor dysfunction and functional bowel disorders.

He graduated from the University of Nottingham in the UK, where he also obtained a Bachelor in Medical Science before pursuing his medical degree. Dr Koh continued his surgical training in Singapore, earning his Master of Medicine in Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2005. He completed his advanced surgical training at Singapore General Hospital, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2009 and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

After being awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award, Dr Koh further honed his expertise at Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) in Switzerland before establishing his private practice. He previously held the position of consultant surgeon in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Singapore General Hospital.

With a keen focus on colorectal surgery, Dr Koh has performed a wide range of colon and rectal procedures using both open and minimally invasive techniques. His patient-centred approach tailors each surgical plan to individual needs, striving to minimize the impact on patients’ lifestyles. Dr Koh is highly skilled in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, single-port surgery, robotic surgery, and transanal endoscopic operations (TEO). Additionally, he is a seasoned endoscopist, having conducted over ten thousand procedures, including endoscopic stenting and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR).

Dr Koh’s expertise also extends to proctology, an area he refined during his fellowship in Geneva. He effectively manages a variety of conditions, including haemorrhoids, anal fistulae, anal fissures, anal abscesses, functional constipation, and faecal incontinence.

Outside his clinical practice, Dr Koh is deeply committed to training the next generation of surgeons. He has held several teaching appointments, including Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. As a core faculty member of the SingHealth General Surgery Residency Programme, Dr Koh plays an active role in teaching and surgical skills training, particularly in endoscopy and laparoscopic techniques.

Fluent in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, and Teochew, Dr Koh communicates effectively with his patients in their preferred languages, ensuring they receive personalised and compassionate care.
