Biography
Dr Agnieszka Malczewski is a medical oncologist based at Icon Wesley, Chermside and Northlakes. After graduating from James Cook University, Townsville in 2005 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Hons 1) and the University Medal, she completed her oncology training in Brisbane in 2012 with rotations through the Princess Alexandra and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospitals.
Between 2012-2013, she completed her fellowship in early phase clinical trials and melanoma at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, where she was involved in clinical and laboratory based research. Dr Malczewski became a fellow the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2013.
Dr Malczewski has experience treating a broad range of solid tissue tumours, including melanoma, tumours of the gastrointestinal tract (pancreatic, gastric, colorectal cancer), urogenital tumours such as bladder, kidney and prostate cancer, lung cancer, breast and ovarian cancer. She has special interest in immuno-oncology and the microbiome.
In 2019, Dr Malczewski was awarded a Master of Science with Distinction, through the University of Oxford. Her thesis focused on the clinical presentation of melanoma in Queensland. She is currently completing her PhD in metabolomics in melanoma and has been awarded a 2021 clinical innovation grant through Uniting Care Health to fund her project, which is a collaborative effort between Uniting Care Health, QIMR and the University of New England.
She has interests in medical research and attends both the Wesley Medical Research Committee and the Icon Cancer Care Research Committee. She is the principal investigator for several melanoma and pancreatic cancer trials and authors Pancreatic Cancer Reviews. She is committed to teaching in medicine and holds the appointment of senior lecturer with the University of Queensland.
