Biography
A/Prof Mark Pinkham is an experienced radiation oncologist and Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), consulting at Icon Cancer Centre North Lakes and Greenslopes Private Hospital. He is also a Senior Staff Specialist at the Gamma Knife Centre of Queensland at the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he is the Director of Radiation Oncology Research.
He graduated from The University of Oxford, UK, in 2005 and completed a Masters in Physiological Sciences with a focus on the neurosciences in 2002. Subsequently he completed specialist training in Brisbane in 2014 and then undertook an 18-month Clinical Oncology sub-specialty fellowship in neuro-oncology and intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) at the world-renowned Christie Hospital, UK.
He has a strong research interest in melanoma and brain tumours, including brain metastases, and is involved in the management of several clinical trials. His work has focused on improving treatments, imaging and survivorship issues for patients affected by these diseases. He has published over 40 manuscripts and acquired over AU$12 million in competitive research grant funding to date. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee within the Co-operative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO) and the inaugural Chair of the Brain Tumour (CNS) Working Party within TransTasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) across Australia and New Zealand.
He enjoys teaching through his roles as an examiner of medical trainees at the national level within the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and supervisor to post-graduate research students at QUT and University of Queensland.
