Dr Rainer Fröhling is a compassionate radiation oncologist dedicated to delivering prompt, patient-focused care. He combines a positive and calm approach with an active interest in clinical research to care for the physical and emotional needs of his patients throughout their treatment.

Biography

Dr Rainer Fröhling is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Rockingham and Icon Cancer Centre Midland. He attended the University of Pretoria where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and completed specialist oncology training at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a fellow of the South African College of Radiation Oncologists and is currently completing a fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR).

Prior to relocating to Australia, Dr Fröhling gained extensive radiation oncology experience in South Africa, working as a radiation oncologist and clinical research physician at GVI Oncology (now Cancercare) and Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital until 2018. He was director of Dr R. Fröhling and Partners Inc., located within Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital, leading a private oncology practice alongside two radiation oncologists.

Dr Fröhling maintains a strong interest in medical education and research, with previous experience as principal and sub-investigator of phase III and phase IV clinical trials. He also held an integral role in teaching and supervising University of Cape Town registrars at Groote Schuur Hospital.

Dr Fröhling has extensive experience in utilising stereotactic radiation therapy, volumetric modulated arc radiation therapy (VMAT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) techniques. His clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies, with special clinical interest in breast, gastrointestinal, lung, prostate and skin cancers.
