Biography
A/Prof Shankar Siva is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Richmond, Freemasons, Moreland and Mulgrave. He completed his PhD with the Molecular Radiation Biology at the internationally renowned Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, focusing on translational investigations in precision high-dose lung radiation therapy.
A/Prof Siva is an international leader in high-technology radiation therapy delivery, in particular sterotactic ablative body radiation therapy (SABR). He has over 150 peer reviewed manuscript publications including the first original research from Australia on the use of SABR. A/Prof Siva has been recognised by his peers with over 20 prizes for research in the field of oncology.
A/Prof Siva leads multiple clinical trials in the treatment of lung cancers and urological cancers, and is chair of multiple TransTasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) studies in the fields of oligometastases, lung, spine and kidney cancers. Amongst other leadership roles, he is board director of the Radiosurgery Society (RSS), co-chair of the TROG Genitourinary Group and is on the scientific advisory committee (SAC) of the Thoracic Oncology Group of Australasia (TOGA).
