Childhood cancer in Singapore

In Singapore, more than 150 children and young adults are diagnosed with cancer each year (Singapore Childhood Cancer Registry 2017). Although they can develop in the same areas of the body as adults, childhood cancers are very different, often occurring suddenly and spreading more aggressively than adult cancers. Despite these characteristics, childhood cancers are typically very responsive to treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy and have a high cure rate of up to 85% (SEER Cancer Statistics Review 1975-2017).
