Biography
Dr Haamid Jan is an experienced medical oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre North Lakes, Wesley and Chermside. His areas of interest include lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancers and melanoma particularly the novel immunotherapies and targeted therapies that have revolutionised and transformed the landscape of cancer in general and of metastatic disease. He is also interested in the treatment of rare neuroendocrine tumours.
Following his graduation Dr Jan’s first clinical exposure to the management of cancer was at the St. George’s University Hospital in London. Subsequently he undertook basic and then advanced training in medical oncology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Queensland. He completed his fellowship in 2014. During this time he also gained experience in palliative care.
Dr Jan presented his research at the Annual European Neuroendocrine conference in Barcelona in 2015 detailing the survival outcomes of metastatic neuroendocrine tumours in Queensland after treatment with Lutate-177. He also has done extensive research comparing outcomes of lung cancer management between regional and metropolitan centres in Australia.
