Biography
Dr Mohammed Islam is a medical oncologist based at Icon Cancer Centre Southport with a strong focus on treating general oncology patients. He has a special interest in prostate cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer and colorectal cancer.
Dr Islam has been a medical oncologist at the Gold Coast University Hospital since January 2014 and is also senior lecturer at Griffith University. Along with clinical commitment Dr Islam has a great interest in teaching and research. He is involved in multiple trials and authored multiple publications. Prior to Gold Coast University Hospital Dr Islam was based at Cairns Base Hospital as a staff specialist. He was also a senior lecturer at James Cook University.
Dr Islam trained at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital and Gold Coast Hospital. There he received varied experience in the management of different types of malignancy and very confident in treating any kind of solid malignancy.
Prior to commencing his advanced training, Dr Islam practiced medicine for over twelve years and across three different countries and speaks several languages. Dr Islam also has valuable cross-cultural communication skills and insights into diverse medical systems.
