Biography
Dr Vikram Jain’s decision to pursue medical oncology was inspired by the positive interactions with cancer patients, which he experienced quite early in his career while working as a house officer at Mater Hospital in Brisbane.
He completed internal medicine training in Brisbane in 2007 before undertaking specialist training in medical oncology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, the Mater Adult Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. This was followed by a clinical research fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London where he specialised further in the treatment of GI malignancies. As a clinical research fellow, Dr Jain was extensively involved in the development of a number of clinical trials, from concept stage through to implementation. Dr Jain continues to maintain this strong research focus in his current clinical practice and actively participates in clinical trials.
Dr Jain is fully committed to providing his patients with high quality, evidence-based care that is focused on their needs. He firmly believes in providing comprehensive care to his patients rather than just treating their cancer. Dr Jain is very happy to treat all solid organ malignancies, but his particular clinical interests include breast cancer, colon cancer, pancreatic and upper GI cancers, and lung cancer.
Dr Jain is an accredited medical oncologist at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, Greenslopes Private Hospital, and Mater Private Hospital Redland. He also attends Friendly Society Private Hospital in Bundaberg, and consults regularly at Icon Cancer Centre South Brisbane, onsite at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane campus.
