Dr Valerie Tay obtained her medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS). During her study, she was the recipient of the ENT Bookprize – an award given to the best student of the year in otolaryngology. She completed her postgraduate otolaryngology training in Singapore and was subsequently awarded the Ministry of Health (MOH) Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship in 2012.
Prior to joining private practice, Dr Tay was chief of the facial plastic surgery service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Ear, Nose and Thoat (ENT) department where she spearheaded the first Facial Palsy Clinic in Singapore, a multi-disciplinary clinic that provides holistic care of facial palsy patients including facial retraining therapy, chemodenervation and surgical facial reanimation. Dr Tay also specialises in scarless surgical rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty using graft harvested from the nasal septum or ear or rib cartilage to provide patients with the best possible result from their surgery. She further honed her skills in facial plastic surgery at the Navi Plastic Surgery Clinic in Seoul, South Korea.
With a keen interest in educating the next generation of medical professionals, Dr Tay has served as a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. She was a core clinical faculty member of the NHG Otorhinolaryngology Residency programme, and has also been invited to many local and overseas conferences to share her knowledge and expertise.
Dr Tay accepts referrals for all cancer types, with a special clinical interest in surgery for ear, nose and throat (ENT) cancers including endoscopic sinus, salivary gland and thyroid procedures for adult and paediatric patients.
