When you or a loved one receives a cancer diagnosis, it is normal to feel overwhelmed. It can be helpful to understand what to expect moving forward. Although everyone is different, the following steps are a common pathway for our patients.
1. Booking an appointment
We have dedicated specialists with experience across all cancer types. As a patient, you have control of deciding your choice of specialist and the preferred clinic location. To discuss the treatment options available at Icon, contact one of our Singapore Icon Cancer Centres.
2. Your first appointment
You will meet your experienced specialist at your first appointment to discuss your diagnosis and treatment plan, addressing any questions or concerns you may have. Throughout your entire treatment, your specialist will continue to care for you. We offer in-person and telemedicine consultations for your convenience.
3. Before starting treatment
Further to your first appointment, one of our experienced care team members will spend time with you to explain your treatment; what to expect and how to manage possible treatment side effects. They will also chat about possible anxiety you and your family might be feeling. Our team collaborates with your specialist to ensure your care is truly personalised to your needs and those of your loved ones.
4. Beginning treatment
Your appointment and treatment cycle length is dependent upon the treatment you will receive. Throughout your treatment and beyond, your specialist and care team will monitor your progress, address your side effects and listen to any concerns or fears you may have. Our team are here to support you and ensure you are confident in your treatment and decisions.
Patients travelling for treatment:
For travelling patients, we have employed a unique shared-care model that connects ASEAN patients to cancer treatments and clinicians, while enabling them to access local medical relationships to manage ongoing health, side effects and follow up appointments throughout treatment and beyond.
This shared-care model allows patients to access ongoing care close to home and their support network while travelling for the acute part of their treatment.
