Dr Cheryl Lau graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. She later completed her fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and was conferred Master of Medicine in Surgery.
She completed her advanced surgical training in both National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. After being awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme Award by the Ministry of Health in 2011, Dr Lau successfully did her surgical fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in the United States, honing her surgical skills in endoscopies, complex laparoscopic colorectal surgeries and general surgeries. She was a pioneering surgeon for Jurong Health Campus at the National University Health Services and a founding member of the colorectal surgery division at Ng Teng Fong General hospital. Before leaving for private practice, Dr Lau was conferred the chief surgeon for Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Dr Lau adopts a holistic approach to patient care to ensure the best outcomes for her patients. She shares her knowledge through her many leadership and educator roles at notable institutions such as the Yoon Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore, where she has received several awards including the Dean’s Award for Excellence in undergraduate and surgical resident teaching. Additionally, she is an experienced researcher, published author and an invited reviewer for numerous international medical journals.
Dr Lau accepts referrals for all cancer types, with a special clinical interest in minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancers.
