Dr Jesse Hu is a breast and endocrine surgeon, specialising in benign and malignant breast and thyroid conditions. Before commencing private practice, Dr Jesse was a senior consultant in the National University Health System (NUHS), where she handled cases for National University Hospital (NUH) and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH). With a passion for driving patient safety outcomes, she was the Breast Oncology Tumour Group Lead at the National Cancer Institute Singapore (NCIS). During this time Dr Jesse was also the JCI Accreditation Lead, focusing on patient safety and care in the hospital, and Lead for value-driven outcomes in breast cancer patients.
Upon completion of her surgical training at NUS School of Medicine, Dr Jesse became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 2014. She subsequently completed two Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) fellowships at Oxford University Hospital, United Kingdom, with further sub-specialisation in both oncoplastic breast surgery and endocrine surgery.
With a strong interest in research, Dr Jesse has authored numerous papers and book chapters such as the internationally recognised Cochrane review on Oncoplastic Breast Conserving Surgery for Women with Primary Breast Cancer. She is a regular invited speaker at national and international conferences, and is recognised as an authority in breast cancer and thyroid surgery.
Dr Jesse continues to nurture the future generation of medical students and trainee doctors at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. As part of her commitment to empower all women to make informed healthcare choices, Dr Jesse also actively promotes breast cancer awareness through medical talks in Singapore and overseas medical missions.
Dr Jesse accepts referrals for all cancer types, with a special clinical interest in breast cancer.
