Dr Loong Tse Han is an experienced surgical oncologist, with a special clinical interest in colorectal cancer.
Dr Loong completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Dundee, Scotland. He subsequently received specialist training at various hospitals including Ninewells Hospital and the Western General Hospital. During his specialist training, Dr Loong had the opportunity to work alongside experts in the field on minimally-invasive cancer surgery and be involved in the development of the concepts that would eventually lead to the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery movement – now one of the mainstays of peri-operative surgical care. He has completed training with robotic-assisted colorectal surgery and has performed numerous surgeries for low rectal cancers using the latest robotic platform.
While working at University College Hospital, London, Dr Loong conducted research and developed initiatives to improve care for patients with anal intra-epithelial neoplasia. Following this, Dr Loong returned to Singapore and continued his training at Singapore General Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. During this tenure, he played an instrumental role in developing initiatives to improve the quality and outcomes of colonoscopies and colorectal surgeries through the application of evidence-based recommendations.
