Dr Mark graduated from the National University of Singapore and was subsequently trained in the treatment of ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions under the National ENT Training programme in Singapore. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999. Dr Mark was awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan Award in 2005 to undertake a fellowship in Sleep Surgery at Stanford University, USA, where he trained under pioneers of sleep surgery and sleep medicine and honed his surgical skills.
He is the only ENT surgeon in Singapore and one of a few ENT specialists worldwide to be qualified as a certified International Sleep Specialist by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He headed the Sleep Clinic in the Department of Otolaryngology at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and taught undergraduate and postgraduate students on the clinical aspects of sleep surgery. Prior to joining private practice, he also provided surgical expertise to patients requiring treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea and snoring during his tenure at SGH. With a keen interest in teaching and contributing to clinical education for the medical community, Dr Mark is actively involved in many medical conferences and has given lectures on sleep medicine and sleep surgery both locally and internationally. He has published several papers and book chapters on topics including sinusitis, general ENT conditions, sleep medicine and sleep surgery.
Dr Mark accepts referrals for all cancer types, with a special clinical interest in surgery for ear, nose and throat (ENT) cancers including the treatment of nasal obstruction and thyroid lumps.
