Dr Nicolas Kon is a distinguished neurosurgeon with over two decades of experience in brain tumour surgery and minimally invasive brain surgery. He specialises in the surgical management of both primary brain tumours and metastatic brain lesions, using advanced techniques such as awake craniotomy and BrainPath approach to deliver optimal outcomes.
A leading surgeon-innovator, Dr Kon pioneered the introduction of BrainPath minimally invasive parafascicular surgery (MIPS) in Asia, significantly improving the safety and effectiveness of procedures for deep-seated brain tumours. His clinical scope also includes microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm as well as deep brain stimulation for movement disorders.
Dr Kon graduated from the University of Sheffield and earned a PhD in Neuroscience from Imperial College London, where he was awarded the Nathalie Rose Barr PhD Award. He further completed a prestigious fellowship in advanced neurosurgery at Toronto Western Hospital, University of Toronto. A prolific academic, he has authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications and holds several patents in the field of neurosurgery.
Dr Kon currently serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and has held key leadership positions including founding co-director of the NNI Centre for Deep Brain Stimulation and the Centre for Neurotechnological Innovation.
