Dr Koh pursued a prestigious 18-month colorectal surgery fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, USA, where she trained under the mentorship of Professor Phillip R. Fleshner. This fellowship, supported by the Academic Medicine Development Award (AMDA) from NUH, allowed her to work alongside a team of ten colorectal surgeons specialising in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Her academic contributions include several peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Annals of Surgery.  She has presented her research at numerous international conferences and was awarded the International Organization of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IOIBD) Research Grant in 2014.

In addition to her work in colorectal surgery, Dr Koh has a strong interest in the endoscopic management of both benign and malignant gastrointestinal lesions. She has authored several papers and a book chapter on the subject. During her training at NUH, she refined her diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy skills under the guidance of Professor Hironori Yamamoto, both in Singapore and at Jichi Medical University in Japan.

Dr Koh is an active member of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons (Singapore) and the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP). She has also contributed to several GlobalSurg Collaborative cohort studies between 2018 and 2020.

She is also a senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, contributing to the education of medical students and surgical trainees.

Beyond her clinical and academic work, Dr Koh is committed to providing holistic care to her patients. She was involved in the SOUL (Surgical Outreach for Underprivileged Lives) committee from 2011 to 2012 and provided medical support at the F1 Grand Prix from 2008 to 2011. Additionally, she has also contributed to the Ministry of Health’s Value Driven Care (VDC) initiative for haemorrhoidectomy, aiming to improve patient outcomes through a patient-centred approach.
