Dr Sulaiman is a highly skilled colorectal surgeon with expertise in managing complex colorectal cancers and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic-assisted procedures.
Dr Sulaiman began his medical career at the University of Sheffield, completing his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2002. He honed his surgical skills during his house officer and basic surgical training in the UK before returning to Singapore, where he completed his Advanced Surgical Training at Changi General Hospital. In 2013, he earned the Joint Specialty Fellowship in General Surgery.
Dr Sulaiman’s dedication to colorectal surgery took him to the renowned Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia, where he underwent advanced training in complex colorectal cancer management as a recipient of the Ministry of Health’s Human Manpower Development Award. This experience significantly enhanced his surgical expertise, particularly in the transition from open to minimally invasive colorectal surgery. He is one of the select few surgeons listed on the Da Vinci Xi surgeon locator, reflecting his proficiency in robotic-assisted procedures.
Beyond his surgical practice, Dr Sulaiman is deeply committed to education and leadership. As the Director of Endoscopy, he plays a key role in teaching and administration. He has significantly contributed to undergraduate medical education at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and Duke-NUS Medical School. His dedication to teaching has earned him the title of Adjunct Associate Professor, multiple accolades, and recognition on the Dean’s Honor Roll for Teaching. His academic contributions also include publications in respected peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Sulaiman is known for his compassionate and patient-centred approach to care. His dedication to delivering high-quality care has been recognised with numerous Singapore Health Quality Service Awards, culminating in the prestigious Star Award in 2023.
