Dr Tan Chuan Chien completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at The University of Adelaide, Australia in 2003 and General Surgery training at Melbourne, Australia leading to admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery. With a passion for breast and endocrine surgery, he underwent post-fellowship training in breast, oncoplastic breast and endocrine surgery in Australia at St Vincent’s Hospital (Melbourne), Princess Alexandra Hospital (Brisbane) and Nepean Hospital (NSW).

Before moving to private practice, Dr Tan Chuan Chien served as a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and the Department of General Surgery (Breast Surgery) at National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore he was the Head – Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery, and Director of Breast and Endocrine Surgery Services at NTFGH. Dr Tan’s affable nature and genuine care for patients resulted in him being awarded the Service Quality Award – Service Ambassador in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 during his tenure at NTFGH.

Dedicated to giving back to the community, Dr Tan served as Chair of the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) for the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Committee from 2018 to 2021 to raise awareness of cancer screening and improve survival rates through prevention and early detection.

He is also committed to sharing his clinical knowledge with the next generation of medical professionals through teaching and education positions. He served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine within the National University of Singapore, Associate Programme Director (APD) at the National University Health System (NUHS) Surgery-In-General Residency Programme and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore from 2016 to 2021.

He has also been invited to speak at several regional seminars and has been published in medical journals discussing breast tumours and reconstructive surgery.

Dr Tan is conversant in English, Chinese, Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, Hokkien and Cantonese.

Dr Tan accepts referrals for all cancer types, with a special clinical interest in surgery for breast, thyroid cancers and breast oncoplastic surgery
