Dr Thng Yongxian is an experienced surgeon, specialising in the treatment and management of hepatopancreatobiliary cases.
Dr Thng holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and a Master of Medicine in General Surgery (M.Med)(Surgery) from the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS YLLSoM).
Dr Thng received subspecialty training in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Singapore General Hospital and subsequently completed a clinical fellowship in minimally invasive hepatopancreatobiliary surgery in the Seoul National University Hospital. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS)(Ire), and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in General Surgery (FRCSEd)(Gen)and Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS).
Dr Thng previously served as Clinical Lead of the Division of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery at the National University Health System (NUHS), Ng Teng Fong Hospital. Under his leadership, Dr Thng and his team were able to perform minimally invasive surgery for complex hepatopancreatobiliary cases; including pancreaticoduodenectomy, hepatectomy, and total pancreatectomy.
With a passion for research and medical education, Dr Thng has published several research papers and conducted poster and video presentations at local and international conferences. He was awarded the MedTech Innovation Grant in 2017 for developing a wearable device for diabetic patients. Dr Thng is member of the International, Asia-pacific, and European Hepatopancreatobiliary Associations, and International Laparoscopic Liver Society.
He speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien and Teochew, and looks forward to caring for patients in a language they are familiar with.
