Dr Michelle Ho is an experienced Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in breast reconstruction and general oncologic reconstruction. Dr Ho has a rich background in reconstructive surgery – in particular breast reconstruction (both implant and autologous), resection and reconstruction of skin and soft tissue tumours and also perineal/abdominal reconstruction. Prior to commencing private practice, Dr Ho was a Senior Consultant in Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Dr Ho completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), in 2006. She obtained her Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), Edinburgh, in 2009 and her Masters in Medicine (Surgery) at NUS in 2010. She completed her plastic surgery training in Singapore and obtained her SMC Specialist Registration and MOH Specialist Accreditation Board in plastic surgery in 2015. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
Dr Ho has a specialised interest in breast reconstruction, where she has accumulated extensive experience and made notable contributions to the field. As the Breast Reconstruction Lead in the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) team in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore, she played a pivotal role in introducing international protocols to support optimal recovery for breast reconstruction patients. Recognising the unique needs of her patients, she adapted these protocols to better suit the Asian context, ensuring culturally sensitive and effective care that maximises outcomes. As a result, Tan Tock Seng Hospital became the first hospital in Singapore to implement these tailored ERAS guidelines, setting a new standard for patient care and recovery in breast reconstruction surgery in Singapore.
Dr Ho is passionate about education and training. Her past appointments include Programme Director of the National Healthcare Group Plastic Surgery Residency Programme and Associate Programme Director of the Singapore Integrated Plastic Surgery Programme. She was also Adjunct Lecturer at Lee Kong Chien School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University and Senior Clinical Lecturer in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. She is currently serving as a member of the Residency Advisory Committee for plastic surgery training in Singapore and continues to mentor medical students as part of the enRICH mentoring programme in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
