Dr Chong Choon Seng is an experienced surgical oncologist, with clinical interests in minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancer and advanced endoscopy.

In 2004, Dr Chong completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Singapore. In 2013, he obtained his Master of Medicine in Surgery from the same institution and became a fellow at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd). He is currently a senior consultant for colorectal surgery at the National University Hospital.

With a passion for research, clinical trials and medical education, Dr Chong is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He has been consistently recognised for his commitment to teaching, receiving the 2022 NUS Teaching Excellence Award, NUHS Research in Education Excellence Award, Special Recognition Award, and the NUS Medicine Fortitude Award.

Presently, he continues to serve as a visiting consultant in several public institutions and remains passionate for teaching future surgeons and medical students. He also holds an academic title as an Assistant Dean (Enterprise) in NUS Medicine and is an active volunteer for community outreach.

Dr Chong has been published in over 100 peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences to present on colorectal surgery. He is also a faculty member of several international societies including the ASEAN Society of Colorectal Surgeons (ASCS) and the Asian-Pacific Study Group for Gastrointestinal Surgery (APGIS). Dr Chong is well-recognized as an international thought leader due to his clinical and research work in the field. He has over 100 publications and won multiple awards in teaching and research.
