Dr Ong Wei Chen is a Ministry of Health accredited plastic surgeon, with expertise in reconstructive microsurgery work especially after cancer surgery.  Dr Ong is experienced in breast reconstruction, reconstruction after oncological resections – including skin, head and neck, abdomen, pelvis and extremity, and facial reconstruction after facial nerve palsy. Having been fellowship-trained in reconstructive microsurgery, Dr Ong has a special interest in breast reconstruction, which she has been involved in for the past 20 years.

Dr Ong completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Singapore (NUS) in 1997. She was awarded a membership diploma and obtained her fellowship at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) in 2000 and received her Master of Medicine in Surgery from NUS in 2001. Dr Ong was later awarded the Ministry of Health’s Human Manpower Development Programme scholarship to fulfil a one-year Microsurgical Fellowship Programme at the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery and St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, where she gained experience in many areas of reconstructive surgery. Dr Ong subsequently obtained her SMC Specialist Registration and MOH Specialist Accreditation Board in Plastic Surgery in 2007. She is also a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

With a keen research interest, Dr Ong has co-authored more than 30 medical publications in her area of specialty. Throughout the years, she has also been an invited speaker at local and international medical conferences.
