Dr Toh Bin Chet is an experienced general surgeon, specialising in upper gastrointestinal surgery, bariatric weight loss, metabolic endoscopic surgery and advanced endoscopy. Dr Toh holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Dundee in Scotland, and a Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the National University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Dr Toh was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award and completed his clinical fellowship at Cambridge University’s teaching hospital, Addenbrooke Hospital, in the United Kingdom. He also completed a surgical clinical observership at the University of Strasbourg, France.

Prior to his overseas fellowship, he completed a two-year clinical fellowship in advanced minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal and bariatric metabolic surgery at Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. To further his surgical skills, Dr Toh undertook masterclasses at the National Cancer Centre (South Korea) for gastric cancer, Gemelli University Hospital (Italy) for bariatric endoscopic procedures and Bangkok Rajavithi Hospital, (Thailand) for advanced endoscopy and Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Toh was a clinical assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, adjunct lecturer at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is also an instructor for the American College of Surgeons’ Advanced Trauma Life Support course and member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders.

He maintains an active interest in clinical research and has authored several scientific publications as well as frequent presentations at international surgical conferences. He was previously the honorary treasurer and executive member of The Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore.

Dr Toh accepts referrals for all cancer types, with a special clinical interest in gastric and oesophageal cancer surgery.
